2018 Berlin

Berlin, Berlin – we go to Berlin!

With this phrase on their lips, footballers go to the final of the DFB-cup, which takes places traditionally in May in the Olympic Stadium of Berlin. We’ll already play around Easter – Europeans biggest women’s Volleyball tournament. We don’t need the Olympic Stadium for that, but what we need are a lot of participants, helping hands and Volleyball-enthusiast. We’re looking forward to the anniversary tournament in Berlin from 30.03. to 02.04.2018.

Why Berlin?

Because everything began there. 30 years ago the first European Women’s Volleyball Tournament took place in Berlin. Since that it has been “on tour” and now returns to its origin. We want to celebrate that: with great games, a lot of reunions and a party as it must be. In short: We want to have a blast!

30 Years?

Some ask „why 30“ … 1989 to 2018 can not be a round birthday?

That’s right. Birthdays always begin their count when a year is already around. – But even in the first year, this great event could only be brought to life with women’s power. So 1989 is the first year of european lesbian volleyball tournaments (the count begins earlier).

And to complicate matters: in 1991 there were two tournaments in the tradition of the Eulevoto, one at Easter (the date has remained since then) and one in autumn (the original date). So there are more tournaments than years.

The great thing is, we have three years in a row reason to celebrate:

  • 2017 in Wroclaw was the 30th Eulevoto tournament
  • 2018 in Berlin will be the 30th year full of women power
  • 2019 in Groningen will be the 30th birthday of Eulevoto

  • Time per set is 12,5 minutes; the last ball will be played to a regular end; a draw is a possible outcome
  • A decided set scores 2 points for the winner, a draw 1 point each
  • Placement matches: When set points and ball points after the central whistle for the second set are the same, one further, deciding point has to be played to determine a winner. No draws here.
  • If 25 points are reached (with 2 points difference) in the first set before the 12,5min whistle goes, change sides and start the 2nd set immidiately
  • If a team is 5 or more minutes late, the set is considered lost (0:2) (0:25)
  • No time outs; no breaks between sets
  • There will be a 5 minute warm-up before every match
